Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) Gas Sensors

We conduct research and development in the area of laser-based gas sensing technology. We offer consultations, technology transfer, joint development and commercialization.

In our basic approach, we design and build custom gas sensors comprising a sensor head connected to a laptop computer. The computer receives raw data and runs custom software to process, display and store data, and to control the instrument. We developed highly stable, light-weight multi-pass gas cells and effective signal processing algorithms. Using a variety of sensor head configurations including short- and long-range open-path systems, we can measure sub-ppm concentrations of the following gases: CH4, CO2, H2O, NH3, HF, CO and HCI. We are currently working on the detection of molecules with broad absorption features. Our computer-controlled sensors can be employed "as is" or may be turned into compact microcontroller-based systems for industrial, scientific and medical applications, and for environmental monitoring.
